My name is Bonnie Slater
I am a proud mother of two, an experienced birth and postpartum doula, birth doula trainer, and women’s relational leader. I grew up and raised my children in Boulder.
Since 1996, I’ve had the honor of guiding over 700 families through the transformative journey of childbirth as a birth doula. Supporting families through the raw emotions of new parenthood and the profound experience of welcoming new life has been a lifestyle I am proud to have lived. My work has taken me to 15 different hospitals, birth centers, and countless homes across Boulder, Colorado, and Maui, Hawaii.
Today I am proud to be on the handpicked doula team of the only birth center in Boulder, Boulder Birth Holistic Health
In addition to my doula practice, I’ve served as a midwifery assistant in three ob-gyn/midwifery offices. My background in psychology and nursing, along with my experience in end-of-life care, allows me to build deep, meaningful connections with families during this vulnerable and transformative time.
In 2020, I founded Doulas of Maui LLC, combining my love for birth, babies, and connection. This birth doula training program is held twice a year on the island of Maui, offering a three-day immersive experience for women interested in the birthing process. Teaching the art of doula work brings me immense joy and fulfillment.
In my personal time, I enjoy hiking in the Boulder mountains, practicing yoga, spending time with my children, climbing with friends, swimming, and capturing artistic underwater maternity photos in my pool in Boulder.
Meet Rebecca, My Team
There are a lot of ways to practice being a doula and I am beyond thrilled to partner with Rebecca Peterson of Sacred Breaths. Not only is she one of the most sought out birth doulas in the Front Range, she is also my dear friend. She is a Certified Professional Birth and Postpartum Doula, as well as one of Denver’s only Certified Birthing From Within Childbirth Educators.
Her family is incredible and I had the privilege of doulaing their daughter's birth in 2014. I am honored to work with Rebecca. She teaches me daily simply by the way she lives her life.
